being an [over] involved university student
In yesterday’s blog post, I mentioned how I’m a member of eleven extracurriculars on campus. Today, I’ll be going into what it’s like being involved at this level and how I manage my time.
A refresher for those who didn’t read yesterday’s post —
I’m a member of the following programs, organizations, clubs, and extracurriculars:
- President’s Leadership Program (PLP)
- Honors Program
- English Major with Distinction Program
- Psi Chi International Psychology Honors Society
- President of my university’s chapter for the Sigma Tau Delta English International Honors Society
- Managing Editor for Currents, the Creative Writing Literary Magazine
- Secretary on the Executive Board for the Student Honor Council (SHC)
- Site Team Leader for a local cat shelter and I volunteer there as well as another cat shelter
- Dead Poets Society
- Campus-wide Book Club
- Job on campus in a call center making non-partisan political poll calls
The commitments that demand the most time of me are Currents, SHC, volunteering, and my job. I’m also a double major in Psychology and as I mentioned yesterday — English, so I dedicate a sizable portion of my time to completing coursework for my five classes.
I organize my entire life in Notion and Apple Calendar. Without those applications, I would be so, so lost. I manage assignments and deadlines in Notion and meetings and appointments in my calendar. I constantly check them, update them, and try to figure out where I can make time to complete a reading, do an assignment, or find a few minutes to unwind.
I love that I’m so involved, I honestly wouldn’t want it any other way. I like to keep moving and I love feeling like I’m a part of something bigger on my campus, and being a member of these programs, clubs, and organizations lets me do just that.
